Our Famous Seasonal Chicken Popati
Popati is the much-loved winter tradition of the Velhe–Bhor region — a whole feast slow-roasted inside a clay matka, right in the open field. Smoky, juicy and full of village flavour, it is the dish Shirkewada is known for.
- Chicken is marinated in our home-ground masala with eggs, potatoes, sweet potatoes and onions.
- Fresh val / pavta papdi pods and bhamburda leaves are layered in a clay matka and sealed.
- The matka is turned upside-down and slow-roasted under a fire in the field.
- Opened hot in front of you and served with bhakri — straight from the earth to your plate.
